About

Football Scouting Network basic concept is to create a repository of up and coming and relatively unknown professional footballers who have the potential to become future stars.

Unique individual reports are listed for each player going into greater detail about their strengths and weaknesses, character and potential along with highlighting core statistics.

The purpose of Football Scouting Network is not to report on worldwide famous footballers however to try and find them (or very gifted players) before they have been discovered by the mainstream. For this reason any players that are entered who we believe to be famous already will be removed. Players that are over the age of 26 are automatically filtered out of the player search (can be toggled on and off) as we believe that at this age the player should be nearing his full potential and has little chance of becoming a worldwide star so late in his career.

A rough guideline as to the sort of material we try to include in our reports is below:

  • Type/style of the player
  • Core attributes of the player
  • Any weaknesses or areas of improvement
  • Potential
  • Mentality
Each Scout Report contains a Player Rating as well as a general overview of the players core attributes.

Player Rating System

The rating system is not based on a level, i.e. a player rated as Wonderkid does not necessarily mean he is better than a player rated as Promising due to the fact the Promising player is still developing. The Rating System is explained briefly below:

Promising: A player that has a lot of potential and is still developing. May not have experienced a great deal of first team football or played at the highest level. Likely to be around 16-21 years old.

Good Quality: A player that is currently playing at a high level and has broken into the first team. May still be developing.

Superstar Ability: A player who is gifted with extraordinary talent and has the ability to be a superstar. Slightly older than a Wonderkid and is likely to be around 21-26 years old.

Wonderkid: A player that has immediately broken into the first team at a very high level. They also show signs of developing even further and have the potential to become great playersl. Likely to be around 16-20 years old.

Player Attributes

The player attribute ratings have been deliberately designed to cover a broad range of categories in order to allow an overview of the overall player style. Values range from 1-5:

  1. Poor
  2. Below Average
  3. Average
  4. Good
  5. Excellent
It is important to take into consideration the position that the player occupies and judge the criteria based upon this. When assigning the values the following attributes are taken into account:

Athleticism: Natural Fitness, Stamina, Work Rate, Strength, Acceleration, Pace etc. (Goalkeepers): Reflexes, Agility, Jumping etc

Mental Capability: Influence, Bravery, Courage, Determination, Decision Making etc. (Goalkeepers): Communication, Eccentricity etc

Technical Ability: Technique, Passing, First Touch, Long Shots etc. (Goalkeepers): Kicking, Throwing, Handling, Aerial Ability, One on One's etc

Footballing Intelligence: Decision Making, Positioning, Off the Ball Movement, Anticipation, Creativity etc. (Goalkeepers): Command of Area, Rushing Out, Tendency to Punch etc
