Buonanotte is a crafty and agile player who can play just behind (in the hole) the main strikers or on the left of midfield. He made his debut when he was just 17 years old and is now an important first team player. During the 2007-2008 season for River Plate he made 25 appearances and scored 11 goals showing that he is a goal scoring midfielder. Along with scoring goals Buonanotte is also capable of setting up his team mates.

Buonanotte is viewed by many as one of the most exciting youngsters in the game. He has great technique, first touch, dribbling skills, plenty of flair, is quick and has a good shot.

Known as the Dwarf due to his height (5 foot 3 inches) some critics believe he is too small and frail for international or European club football. This would appear to be unfounded as he was selected for the Argentinean squad for the 2008 Olympics and has given a number of assured performances.
