Carlos Alonso has started his career in football extremely quickly. This may be partly due to his father (Juan Carlos Bazalar) being a superstar in Peru (after he helped Cienciano to win the Copa and then Recopa Sudamericana, a kind of UEFA Cup and Supercup).
Carlos Alonso started his career at Alianza Lima where he played once for the senior team. Last summer, he moved to Cienciano where he had the chance to play together with his father. This historic occasion came to pass on 25 May 2008 when Juan Carlos and Carlos Alonso shared midfield duties in Cienciano's 3-2 win over Juan Aurich. This made headlines in Peru and across the world.
At Cienciano he has been given the number 29 and is part of the first team squad. It is likely that this season he will be given more first team opportunities. This is partly down to the rule in Peru that every team have to use a young player (U-20) in at least 13 matches during one season.
In 2007 he played in the South-American Championship (U-17) and played an important part in helping Peru gain a place for the World Cup (U-17) tournament.
During the World Cup (U-17) tournament Carlos Alsono played in all of Peru’s matches scoring 2 goals (one of them being the best goal of the World Cup). Peru were eliminated in the Quarter-finals by Ghana. Bazalar however made it into the official team of the tournament.
